Why Are More And More Couples Sleeping Separately?

There has been quite a bit written about couples choosing to sleep separately for a better quality of sleep and wellbeing. Most recently, we spotted an article in The Huffington Post by Myles Black. Here it is, if you haven’t read it.

It is a great article with plenty of useful tips to help couples sleep together. The advice given includes avoiding alcohol before bed, staying on your side of the bed and seeking the root cause of your snoring if this is what is disturbing your partner’s sleep.
Another issue addressed involves changing your bedding on a weekly basis to avoid the build up of dust in the bed as well as purchasing cheap pillows so they are easier to dispose of and replace.
As you may know, Sealy UK products that contain Smart Fibres are approved by TheBritish Allergy Foundation and we take house dust mite allergies very seriously. Our Smart Fibre mattresses are capable of the following:
• Neutralising & cleaning up 100% of the dust mite allergens.
• De-hydrating the bed’s microclimate so that house dust mites lack essential water and stops the growth of fungi.
• Suppressing noxious bacterial colonies with no bacterial immunity or antibiotic resistance.
So whilst it is important to keep the surface of your bed clean and dust free, if you have further breathing difficulties such as asthma that may be provoked by dustmites for example, it may be worth looking beyond the bedding and at ways of eliminating these triggers too.
Breathing problems and snoring are just a couple of reasons why couples struggle to sleep together. Can you think of any more?
